St James school, Bolton

Built 1872; demolished

This was a new school, probably the one shown below on Luther Street off Waterloo Street. This area now defines “comprehensive redevelopment”; there is no trace of the densely built up area shown on the 1893 map.

Freeman also made alterations to the school in 1874 (Bolton building registers, entry 6434).
