St Mark, Cheetham Hill

Church built 1794; tower added 1894; demolished c.1998

In June 1894, Knill Freeman wrote to the city surveyor enclosing plans of the proposed alterations: “The tower and porches at end will be built in brick as shown the upper floors of timber and the ground floor paved with mosaic. The roof will be leaded, and the water taken down and connected with existing drains. The buttresses to the north and south sides will also be built in brick.”
